Professional Development Session

This session provides attendants an opportunity for professional development and networking. It also includes breakout sessions to explore opportunities in academia, non-profit and private sectors. Panelists will participate in a guided discussion and then go into breakout sessions led by a panelist.

Meghan Franklin, Consultant, Deloitte, D.C., Data Scientist and Visualization (ASC Alumna) 

Meghan Franklin currently works as a Consultant at Deloitte Consulting LLP. She completed the Data Science certificate program at Georgetown University, obtained a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science at Tuskegee University, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Agnes Scott College. Ms. Franklin’s thesis research focused on assessing vulnerability to extreme climatic events by combining multiple socio-economic and climate indicators – identifying the most vulnerable state counties to climate change. Her research helped to fine tune her skills in geospatial analysis, which later granted her opportunities to work with the federal government in support of national security. 

During her time at Agnes Scott College, Ms. Franklin completed a Greenhouse Gas Inventory on behalf of the Center for Sustainability. She also studied abroad in Costa Rica and discovered a passion for sustainability, understanding climate change impacts, and environmental justice. Ms. Franklin’s experiences and skill set have placed her in the unique position of being able to tie all her passions together; where she can provide data driven solutions that support best practices and policies related to sustainability. She is currently developing her career in consulting, sustainability, and smart cities

Ebony Y. Webber, MBA, Chief Operating Officer, MANRRS

Hailing from a rural town in the Mississippi Delta, Ebony Webber serves as the Chief Officer of Operations for the National Society for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences, and has worked for MANRRS for the last 17 years.  Ms. Webber strives daily to transform the National Society into a nationally recognized name as well as developing young, minority students into future leaders. Focused on developing strategic partnerships and building collaborative teams, Ms. Webber drives innovation and growth at MANRRS through programs connecting students and professionals in academia, government, nonprofit, and private industry.

Graduating at the top of the Computer Science and Mathematics Department, Ebony received her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Stillman College and also holds a certification in Technology Management and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, both from the University of Phoenix. Ms. Webber is an alum of the National Urban League Emerging Leaders Program, United Way of Greater Atlanta Volunteer Involvement Program and the Georgia Center for Nonprofits High Potential Diverse Leaders Cohort.  She is a member of the National Black MBA Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and was recently appointed to the Women in Food and Agriculture Advisory Board and the 1890 Center of Excellence to Motivate and Educate for Achievement (MEA).

Lori Lombardo, Assistant Director of Admissions, Events, and Recruitment

Lori Lombardo currently serves as the Assistant Director of Admissions, Events & Recruitment at the Yale School of the Environment (YSE). She comes to YSE after having spent three and a half years working at the Office of Admission at the College of Mount Saint Vincent (CMSV) in Riverdale, NY. While a member of their team, she worked with students from all over the country – recruiting heavily in California and Texas – and working with majority first generation and minority students. Aside from working directly with these students, she managed all admission events, marketing and communications and was responsible for driving their Premier Scholarships and Programs. 

Prior to CMSV Lori was student at Lafayette College where she earned a Bachelors in Environmental Studies. While a student Lori worked extensively in the Office of Admission – jumpstarting her career in Higher Education. Eager to unite her passion for the environment and love for higher education, Lori feels honored to further the mission she so values of the Yale School of the Environment; Especially in a time of increasing environmental challenges. 

Outside of the professional world, Lori loves spending time with her rescue pup, Bronson, family, friends. She is an amateur photographer and a lover of good coffee! 

Shana Udvardy, Climate Resilience Analyst

Shana Udvardy is a climate resilience analyst with the Climate & Energy program at the Union of Concerned Scientists. She conducts research and policy analysis to help inform and build support to increase resilience to climate change impacts.

Prior to joining UCS, Ms. Udvardy provided consulting services on climate adaptation and flood risk management policy. She was also the climate adaptation policy analyst at the Center for Clean Air Policy, director of flood management policy for American Rivers, and water program manager at the Georgia Conservancy. Ms. Udvardy also worked at the Smithsonian Institution’s Monitoring and Assessment of Biodiversity Program and was a Peace Corps volunteer in Nicaragua.

Ms. Udvardy is a Certified Floodplain Manager, and holds a M.S. in Conservation Ecology and Sustainable Development from the University of Georgia’s Odum School of Ecology and a B.A. from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School.

Ms. Udvardy is frequently called upon to speak on climate adaptation and flood risk management, including two State Department speaking tours in Bangkok and Manila in 2014 and Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos in 2012.
